I love to paint and pride myself with beautiful art. In looking back to my life I realized that my whole life has been filled with colors. I began sketching at a very young age. Always creating images of flowers and especially Roses. It became my favorite past-time. I found that I would get mesmerized by the beauty in the surroundings of nature and the littlest things in the grass and trees and of course at my moms garden. Then after years of sketching and in 2013, I found my love in painting by using acrylics, chalk, Indian oils, and most of all oils. I learned collage, sculpture and etching.
All my dreams became visions to pursue greater images and of blending colors to formulate objects and things that were fun, beautiful, imaginary, outspoken, brilliant and impressive. You see I paint with such precision, from my heart, and with so much thought and compassion. Never wanting to stop. I came to realize that I had the ability to make things flourish into art of many styles, colors, and techniques.
I was taught by the best two art professors of St. Mary's University, in San Antonio, Texas. They were Prof. Brian St. John and Prof. James Joffe. They not only noticed my talent and skills of art but always praised me and always made me feel like my work was of such beauty and worth a million feelings. I wanted to be not only the best but wanted to stay in class all the time. It became my place of freedom. Every painting was different not one was ever the same, my thoughts were also never the same. My determination was to be the BEST.
I hope when you see all my art you can feel and taste all my love, my imagination, and my inspiration. My descriptions are a sense of a place in time and a way of expressing myself and provide relief to inner feelings. A dear friend of mine recently told me “ Take that emotion and turn it into the passion that motivates you to do new and great things. Remember the past molds you but the future defines you”. So very true. My Artist name is “jpyDy” ( ja-pi-di) and is also the name of one of my beautiful Labrador dogs. Please enjoy my world of art.
With much love, blessings, and gratefulness of life, Dora A Ybarra ( jpyDy) BBA and MA. St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, Texas.
